It was a beautiful day, not that the lake wasn&#8217;t still cold, but Rachel had a great time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Rachel at Lake Michigan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.butchieboy.info\/Rachel-at-Lake-1.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rachel saw to it that many rocks that had washed ashore were safely returned to their subsurface location. We realized that Rachel had never seen waves coming into a shore. She asked questions like, &#8220;Why is the water moving?&#8221; &#8220;Is it dangerous?&#8221; Once she realized it was perfectly natural she loved it. &#8220;Safety&#8221; is our girl&#8217;s middle name!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Rachel in the Water\" src=\"http:\/\/www.butchieboy.info\/Rachel-at-Lake-2.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"748\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After spending an hour or two at the lake we returned to Sue&#8217;s, packed up the van, and headed for home.  When we got to Anamosa we decided to veer off on Highway 1 and take a diagonal shortcut to Iowa City.  But when we got to Mount Vernon we discovered the road was closed so we had to go about 10 miles out of our way.<\/p>\n<p>This was a great vacation and we had a very fun time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since we goofed up earlier and didn&#8217;t get any pictures when Rachel went to the lake, we decided to go back there camera in hand.
