Great Moments

On a weekend visit 34 years ago, our friends the Hawns snapped this picture of us. It was to be the first in our “Thorpe Family at Great Moments in History” series.

Yesterday we got to add the latest installment to the series, the first African American elected to the presidency of the United States.

All these pictures over the years have had Karen, Lance, Wendy, and I together with a newspaper identifying the event. These days, the kids are flung far and wide and we can’t be together for the picture. So I am requesting that you, Lance and Wendy, take a digital picture of you and your family and send it to me and we will have all three pictures together. It will also allow you to start your own series to be added to in years to come.

I also encourage any of the rest of my blog readers to grab this morning’s newspaper, document your own family at this momentous time, and send the resulting picture to me. I will put up as many as I get. I know a couple of readers of this blog are of a conservative confusion and may not be celebrating as much as the rest of us, but I invite you to send a picture too.

Congratulations, Barack!

I’m going to send one also. What a night, we laughed, we cried, it was great. I thought of you guys taking a picture and I thought maybe you would get Lance and have Wendy skype and take a picture around the computer. Great tradition.

Whoa. We are certainly getting old and have witnessed many an extraordinary event. What a night last night was. Ditto on the laughing and crying, etc. I was watching my grandbabies while Jess and Brian were at an election party. Lorelei was stalling about bedgoing then she tole me she had a good idea. She grabbed her “Barack Obama” shirt and wore it as we laid on the couch watching the results come in.

hey–we totally missed the entry here, but great idea for the obama victory. Hopefully America will do the right things to get the country moving the best direction and Obama will provide the right leadership. Will see if we can get a picture done for the blog on this. Dick and Jean have become total “obamamaniacs” down here and are totally on board with a more progressive future for America! ok, that not really true, but Dick did promise me he was reading his book soon!
